TMJ Diagnostics

TMJ thermography is a diagnostic technique that uses infrared imaging technology to detect temperature differences in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This joint connects the jawbone to the skull and is responsible for the movement of the jaw. By using thermography, it is possible to identify areas of inflammation or injury in the TMJ that may not be visible on other imaging techniques. The procedure involves using a specialized camera to capture heat patterns and then analyzed to identify any abnormal temperature variations that may indicate underlying TMJ dysfunction or injury.

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is a valuable DIAGNOSTIC TOOL based on a noninvasive system that could display and detect the relative temperature variations in patients suffering from thyroid nodules, especially nonpalpable.

Thyroid cancer will become the fourth most prevalent type of tumour, so improving its diagnosis is a necessity. The gold standard for evaluating thyroid nodules is ultrasound followed by a biopsy.

But, these tests have restrictions, particularly in nodules that are smaller than 5mm.

If used in combination with other imaging modalities, could play an extra role in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules.
